On Thursday, August 20, 2020, the MS GIS Program office was busy welcoming our two new Fall 2020 cohorts. First, we welcomed the newest class of students participating in the NOAA CAT-B program. This program is an exclusive graduate certification program in cartography for NOAA employees. Later that day. we welcomed our new Master of Science/Graduate Certificate in GIS students.
Like most gatherings these past few months, these orientations were done via a Zoom meeting. They were hosted by MS GIS Program Director, Dr. Jack Ma, along with MS Program Assistant Academic Director, Kristen Bergery and Program Coordinator, Erin Jacobs. Students were given a run through of both the Academics and Administration of their respective programs, as well as the opportunity to meet with the Faculty, and Staff. GEOG Department Chair, Chris Justice, was in attendance at both orientations to give Welcoming Remarks.
The program's incoming students come to us from a variety of backgrounds and work environments. It is from these unique perspectives that give our program such valuable insight. We are sincerely looking forward to the many ways these students will contribute and change our program for the better!
