A big congratulations goes to GEOG alum, Michael Murphy, as the recipient of University of Maryland's Esri Development Center (EDC) Student of the Year!  Michael is a Fall 2019 graduate of the Master in Science in Geospatial Information Sciences program (MS GIS). He is now entered into the second round of competition for the International EDC Student of the Year award. During his time in the MS GIS program, Michael completed many sophisticated and interesting GIS projects, particularly developing Mobile and Web GIS Apps.

The Esri Development Center (EDC) program confers special status and benefits upon a select few leading university departments and programs, which include the MS GIS and GEOINT  programs. EDCs challenge students to develop innovative applications based upon the ArcGIS platform and related elements of the geospatial technology ecosystem. One benefit of the program is a monetary prize, certificate, and Esri Press book, awarded annually to the Student of the Year named by each EDC.

Once again, congratulations to Michael on this outstanding achievement and best of luck in the next round of competition!
