Join us for our next meetup on March 6 at 6PM! Come talk maps, data, and anything geospatial/geography. Everyone is welcome, including newcomers.

We have several awesome presenters this month:

  • Dr. Meredith Gore from UMD College Park will discuss her past and current efforts to engage minoritized voices in participatory mapping of wildlife crime. Her collaborative and applied research highlights the power of participation for crime prevention using case studies from Vietnam, Madagascar, and Mexico. The World Wildlife Day 2024 (March 3) theme is Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation. Learn more at: https://www.wildlifeday.org/en/materials
  • Lauren Tierney is a Senior Graphics Reporter and Cartographer at The Washington Post. She will be presenting on the mapping work of the Post Graphics team, and how they cover news with maps.
  • Bill Dollins will provide an update on the planning and progress toward this year's FedGeoDay, the one-day event focused on public sector use cases for open-source geospatial.
  • Do you want to present in the future? Send us a message on Meetup!

We will be at Sudhouse on U St, right next to the U St Metro Station. Lots of food and drink available to order while you chat with fellow geo-friends (including non-alcoholic options)!

See you there,

Tom, Emily, Dan, and Chad
