Leila De Floriani was recently elected to the IEEE Computer Society (CS) Board of Governors for 2017–2019.

The Board of Governors is responsible for providing guidance—at the policy level—to all of the organizational entities within the Society, which is considered the world’s leading membership organization dedicated to computer science and technology.

The Board also sets direction and strategy for the Society, and reviews the performance of the program boards and other committees and entities to assure compliance with its policy directions.

“I am deeply honored to have been elected in the IEEE CS Board of Governors,” De Floriani says. “I am planning to give my contribution to help facing new issues posed by new publication modes, such as open access, and to exploit new opportunities for CS publications with enhanced forms of collaboration between conferences and journals.”

De Floriani currently serves as editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG).
