Michaelmary Chukwu is a PhD student in the Geographical Sciences program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Mr. Chukwu is affiliated with the Spatial Multiscale Analytical Science Hub (SMASH), headed by Dr. Taylor Oshan. He holds a master's degree in Geography from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (2025), and a bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria (2021). His research interests include Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI), spatial analysis and statistics, computational social science, urban studies, active transportation, and remote sensing. His doctoral research focuses on improving large language models (LLMs) to better understand spatial scale and their application to urban issues such as human mobility and flood disasters.
