The 2026 UCGIS Symposium Plenary and Preliminary Program is now live!
The plenary sessions will feature an exciting lineup of speakers:
- Marge Cole, Strategic Initiatives Director at Lunate AI, will open on Tuesday, June 16, with a forward-looking discussion on spatial intelligence and leadership.
- On June 17, Yiqun Xie, Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, will explore advancements in GeoAI modeling and data foundations.
- The plenary will conclude on June 18 with a panel focused on AI in geospatial education.
The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) will host the 2026 Symposium at the University of Maryland, College Park. This year’s theme, AI Everywhere!, highlights both the opportunities and challenges that rapid advancements in geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) bring to research and education.
The symposium runs June 15–18, 2026, beginning with pre-symposium workshops on June 15, followed by a three-day program. In addition to plenary sessions, attendees can expect lightning talks, panels, presentations, poster sessions, and social events.
