The UCGIS announced the results of its elections at the CaGIS+UCGIS Symposium on June 3 to 6 in Columbus, Ohio. Stewart will begin her term as UCGIS President-Elect on July 1, 2024. She will assume the role of President in July 2025.

Stewart has served the UCGIS in several different capacities before this new role. "I'm looking forward to working to advance UCGIS's efforts over the next few years," she said.

The UCGIS is a nonprofit organization that creates and supports communities of practice for GIScience research, education and policy across the United States.
