Leila De Floriani Elected President of the IEEE Computer Society
Leila De Floriani, a professor of geographical sciences with an appointment in UMIACS, and affiliated with CGIS was just elected 2019 President-elect and2020 Presidentof the IEEE Computer Society. The IEEE Computer Society is a preeminent organization that represents the global technical community and computer professionals everywhere.
In this role, she will provide direction to the organization’s officers and programs that serve more than 60,000 members worldwide. As president, she plans to enhance the organization’s impact and improve its outreach to members in all regions as well as foster the involvement of women and underrepresented groups, both as volunteers and in leadership positions.
