The skillset course sequence offered by the Center for Geospatial Information Science is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of current state-of-the-art technology in geospatial information science (GIS) and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), through intensive training over a short time frame. The skill-set courses provide advanced training in key aspects of spatial analysis and data management, coupled with hands-on lab-based exercises across a diversity of devices, software libraries, systems, and data environments that emphasize “learning by doing”.
Kieera Stewart and Avery Furey, GIS majors in Geographical Sciences, served as student interns on a project to design a web map of child, youth, and family service providers for the Department of Family Services, Prince George's County, MD.
The MPS GEOINT program provides workforce-focused technical training that gives graduates the skills and expertise to lead new initiatives in the rapidly shifting landscape of GEOINT applications, data collection systems, analytic methods, and mission support.
