This 1-credit course serves as an introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that are used to gather, analyze and present geospatial information in the era of big data. Topics include the basics of geospatial data; fundamentals of big data; locational reference systems; the Global Positioning System; data analysis, interpretation, and visualization methods.
